About the Talk
Army reforms in 1881 gave Kent two county regiments. The Buffs (East Kent) garrison HQ at Canterbury and The Queen's Own (West Kent) garrison HQ in the County Town, Maidstone. The West Kent Regiment was formed by merging the 50th and the 97th Regiment of Foot. The regimental museum of the West Kent Regiment is an independant collection located inside the Maidstone Museum & Art Gallery, St Faith's Street Maidstone Kent.
