Blue colour on map

Canterbury, Faversham, Thanet, Dover, Elham Sandwich areas.

Original registers are held at Canterbury Cathedral Archives & Library (CCAL).

Images are available on Find My Past - except for 4 parishes that withheld permission to publish online: Cheriton, St Martin; Harbledown, St Michael; Ramsgate, St Luke; Shepherdswell (Sibertswold), St Andrew.

Bishop’s/Archdeacons Transcripts, including those once held at CCAL, are now at Kent History and Library Centre (KHLC) Maidstone but  CCAL
still have the films. These records are not online.

Pink colour on map

Maidstone, Sittingbourne, Sheppey, Tonbridge, Malling, Shoreham, Cranbrook, Ashford, Romney Marsh and Weald of Kent areas.

Original registers are held at the Kent History & Library Centre (KHLC).

Bishop’s transcripts are available at KHCL.

Medway towns, Gravesend and Dartford areas.

Original registers held at Medway Archives, Strood (MAC).

Few, if any Bishop’s Transcripts survive for Rochester diocese.

MAC also holds Medway Circuit Methodist registers.

London Borough of Bexley including Erith, Crawford and Sidcup.

Original registers are held at Bexley Library.

London Borough of Bromley including Orpington, Farnborough and the Crays.

Original registers are held at Bromley Library.

Green on map

The parish of West Wickham is within the London Borough of Bromley, but is in the diocese of Southwark.

The original parish registers for West Wickham are held at Surrey History Centre in Woking, Surrey.

Yellow on map

London Borough of Lewisham including Greenwich, Woolwich. Plumstead Eltham and Deptford.

Most original registers held at London Metropolitan Archives (LMA) .

A few Greenwich registers (Greenwich St Paul, Charlton Holy Trinity and Charlton St Luke) are with the Greenwich Museum.

Most, but not all, of the Kent parish registers have been filmed by LDS and are on Family Search (subscription or view from an LDS Family History Centre).

Non-conformist registers are mostly with The National Archives.

It is known that there were occasional omissions of pages during the digital filming processes, and of course some registers have been lost for many years.

Sometimes Bishop’s Transcripts, which are not online, can fill gap.
