About the talk
We all think that we know what makes a "traditional" Christmas. A home with the family eating turkey. Expecting presents from Santa Claus and so on. This talk shows how much of what we think goes to make up a traditional Christmas is a relatively modern idea. The Victorians fundamentally changed this festival.
This talk looks at what makes for a truly traditional Christmas and the central role played in that by the custom of wassailing.
About the speaker
Robin Burton has a lifetime of experience in marketing and business development, a career that has taken him around the world. He now offers consultancy in marketing, business development and event management. He has a great love of music and gives talks with music, centred mostly on our English heritage of folk music and customs, either solo, with an actor friend or with his group Swing Rioters
