Cathedral Precincts Canterbury
About the Talk
The Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment) was one of the first infantry regiments in the British Army, with origins dating back to 1572. In 1961, after nearly 400 years of distinguished service, the regiment became part of The Queen's Own Buffs, The Royal Kent Regiment.
The Buff Memorial in the Cathedral Precincts depicts a WWI Buff about to leave the Garrison in Canterbury for the front. He is taking with him a memory of home with him - Bell Harry Tower.
