Fred Feather, Editor of Essex family Historian entertained us with a talk entitled “Tales my mother told me” It was based upon snippets of family folk lore that had been passed on and were thought to be mainly fiction but turned out to have a surprising amount of fact behind them without too much embellishment. The moral of the story being approach these snippets with scepticism but be prepared to be pleasantly surprised
