The Medgett surname appears to originate in Kent.
The Medgett ONS (see below) does not list any variants, although the spellings Medget, Midget, Madgett, Magick are noted.
Apparently a variant of Madgett. Compare Thomas Maget (buried) 1596, John Madget 1618, Elizabeth Medgett 1663 in IGI (Folkestone Kent).

Since Medgett is a rare surname, there does not appear to be any famous Medgett's.
Travis Medgett played for the Ottawa 67's hockey team in the 2013 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection.
In the 1881 UK census there were 28 occurrences of the surname MEDGETT of which 27 were resident in Kent and one in Middlesex. Kent occurrences were in the districts of Gravesend (1), Elham (1), Thanet (2), Canterbury (3), Blean (5) and Eastry (14). All the occurrences in 1881 were from the same extended family.
According to the Forebears Website, in 2014 there were 55 occurrences in England, one in Scotland, one in Germany and eight in Canada.
