About the talk: This is a new talk from Dave's extensive repertoire. It's about newspapers but also about stories that can bring our ancestors to life; about moving away from the idea that once we’ve discovered their names and dates, our task is complete. The talk will demonstrate how newspapers – specifically local newspapers – can lead us some way along this path. How, by uncovering references to the smallest, apparently insignificant events in our ancestors’ lives, we can start to get glimpses of the people behind the names and dates; and to see our ancestors as real, living, breathing, thinking people.
About the speaker: Dave Annal, has more than 40 years' experience as a family historian. Live, Rootstech and other major Family History events and numerous Family History Societies and U3A Groups around London and the South East.
