The Members Interests database now includes Place Interests, allowing members to share their interests in individual named houses, cottages, streets and villages in or near to Kent.
This useful addition to the Members Interests database will allow family researchers to obtain further detail about their ancestors based on the places in which they lived, possibly with other families.
For example, Basden Cottages in Hawkhurst were the home of two generations the Poile family in the 1900s.
Another more specific example, Well House Cottages in Northiam, Sussex were the home for several generations the Poile and Barnes families in the 1900s, resulting in several marriages between the families.
Place Interests will be summarised in the website News section each month, raising awareness amongst the society's membership as well as bring them to the attention to search engines such as Google.
Place Interests will also be mentioned in the monthly newsletter and quarterly journal.
