The Chairman and Committee of Thanet Branch, together with the Executive Committee of Kent Family History Society, have now suspended the activities of the Thanet Branch of the Society.
It is with great regret that this decision has had to be taken but sadly, members attendance numbers in the Thanet area has declined in recent years, and the average age of those members who do attend meetings has increased. This has led to more and more work falling on a similarly reduced and ageing Committee making it a struggle for the current Committee Members to run branch evenings. Anyone wishing to restart meetings and activities of the Society in the Thanet area should contact the KFHS vicechairman.
The final meeting of Thanet Branch took place on 11th December 2019 with a private Christmas Party for 24 members.
It is hoped that KFHS members from the Thanet area will be able to get to meetings of the neighbouring branches at Canterbury and Deal, where they will be assured of a warm welcome. As members of Kent Family History Society all members may join in the activities of any branch of the Society, other branches meet at Ashford, Maidstone and Medway
