Long standing members will be saddened to learn that Kristin Slater passed away after a long period of ill health.
Kristin was Secretary of the society for a number of years and also the Society's Librarian, offering the society space to erect a log cabin on her farm at Herne for use as a library and archive. Many members will remember visiting the library where they were welcomed by Kristin and her dogs. Then encouraged to relax with a coffee before being taken to browse the collection of books and other records that were available. Being very knowledgeable about the items in her care Kristin seemed able to find just what you needed to help with your research.
Her funeral will be held in February in Thanet at which representatives of the Society will attend. A donation to charity, in Kristin's name, will also be sent on members behalf.
