About the talk
The talk looks at the medical care in some East Kent workhouses in the forty six years following the introduction of the New Poor Law Act of 1834. It considers how different Guardians of the Poor implemented the Act and explores reasons for the variation between the unions when applying the 1834 Act.
About the speaker
Kevin Field is retired and lives in Folkestone. The subject of his talk on medical care provided by the Poor Law is from his MA studies at Christchurch University, Canterbury.
