About the Talk
Using postcards sent more than a hundred years ago, this illustrated talk, will look at some of the coastal landmarks that reveal stories written by our ancestors. As well as sharing the stories of who sent and received some of the postcards, this talk will also explore the families who called ‘the lighthouse’ their home.
About the Speaker
Helen Baggott is an editor, speaker and writer from Dorset. Her most recent project is researching the stories behind postcards sent more than 100 years ago. So far, she has published three collections of stories under the theme Posted in the Past, plus a series of genealogical novels; Memories from the Future. She has also written for regional and national magazines including: This England, Discover Your Ancestors, Who Do You Think You Are?, Picture Postcard Monthly and The Card Scene, and has also contributed to Family Tree magazine’s blog. Her work has been recognised by national newspapers as both a Postcard and Heirloom Detective. Through the power of Zoom, Helen speaks to groups on both sides of the Atlantic and Australia and has been a speaker at a number of online genealogy shows and a guest speaker for the Society of Genealogists.
