

We welcome new articles for submission to the Journal.
The decision which articles to publish is made by the Editorial team. Photographs are always welcomed but please do not send originals of printed images, as we would not be able to guarantee their safe return. You must also have permission from the Copyright holder if applicable.
Copy is preferred via email as a Word Document. If submitting photographs, please send as separate attachments, indicating their required position in the text. Editorial guidelines are in each Journal.
Shorter pieces for fillers are always welcomed, as are snippets from other sources such as Parish Registers, wills etc.
The Journal of the Kent Family History Society is part of the service offered by the society and is intended to be member led under the guidance of the Editors.
We welcome all contributions: letters, articles, notes and queries, help wanted/offered and strays for possible inclusion in the next issue of either the Journal or monthly newsletter. Priority is given to articles by members.
1. Permission to publish contact details will be assumed unless you tell us otherwise.
2. Please can you put references, if any, at the end of the article and use Decimal numbers not Roman ones.
3. If submitting photos to go with your article will you please confirm when sending the article that you have permission to publish them. If not, they won’t be included. Please submit the photos out of the article, just indicate their position.
4. Any scanned images need to be copied at more than 300 dpi as printed copies will be poor.
5. Please limit your article to a maximum of 2,500 words with no more than 3 photos. We will also accept short articles, so please contact us if unsure.
6. Non members who submit articles may receive copy, in PDF only, on request.
The Editors reserve the right to edit articles. Neither the Society nor the Editors accept responsibility for the views or opinions which contributors may express in their articles.
1. Articles should relate to a family and/or place in/from Kent.
2. Articles may alternatively be of broader genealogical interest where they either review genealogical past or future trends that are considered relevant to members of KFHS and their ability to conduct family history research.
3. Articles will be rejected if they are:
in the opinion of the KFHS editor and/or committee.
4. Articles from KFHS members will have priority over articles from non members.
5. Decisions of the KFHS committee will be final.
To meet our quarterly printing schedule there is an editorial deadline for announcements, new members and reports, of three months before publication date as follows:

Alternatively, you may correspond with us by regular mail.
'Proof copy’ will only be sent if requested.
Please include your name and membership number. If writing to us please add your contact details clearly and include a stamped addressed envelope if you wish acknowledgement of your contribution.
