About the Talk
Chancery records are one of the most under used resources for family history but can reveal so much about our ancestors’ lives, their family, social and business connections, and their property. This talk will look at who and why our ancestors may have become involved in Chancery court case and explore the hidden stories to be found.
About the Speaker
Sarah Pettyfer is a professional family, house and local historian and author. She is an active member of the Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives (AGRA). She holds the Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies (IHGS) Diploma in Genealogy. Drawing on her background as a family law solicitor, her particular areas of interest are legal records, in particular deeds, Manorial court and Chancery court records. Although Sarah remain a member of the Law Society although, is she is no longer practising as a family law solicitor.
