With the approach of the 80th anniversary of VE Day, and as the stories of the fallen fade, it is more important than ever they are not forgotten. A search of the For Evermore website returns seven Poile ancestors that fell but no stories. I am going to change that and urge you to do the same for your ancestors.
This innovative platform invites anyone with a connection—be it a relative, a loved one, or someone they have researched—to share their memories and/or stories of those commemorated by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission from any of our 23,000 sites across 150 countries and territories.
By gathering these contributions into a single, searchable repository, For Evermore remembers the courage of the men and women who lost their lives during the world wars and ensures that we, and future generations, never forget the human cost of war.
