The group met for a game entitled ‘Just a Family History Minute’. People were given the opportunity to talk for a few minutes on a family-history-related subject, hiding a word that was repeated four times in their talk.
There were fascinating tales of murderers and bigamists, gardeners and engineering pattern makers. Fun was had trying to guess the hidden words, but discussions
ere generated too.
Often, something related to one person’s talk sparked a thought from someone else. The different uses of the phrase ‘home child’ was discussed as was the number of direct ancestors one has after tracing back to one’s twelve times great grandparents. For anyone interested, it’s over thirty-two thousand!
All in all, an enjoyable afternoon of tea, coffee, biscuits and anecdotes.
