Ditton Heritage Centre (Victorian School) by Maralyn Mulcuck - a talk in preparation for the branch outing on 13th July.
A very informative talk about how the Ditton Heritage Centre evolved and the setting up of the Victorian School in a derelict school building that housed the old swimming pool! Talk of filling ink wells in the wooden desks transported us back to our own early school days. Over the years some fascinating artefacts have been donated to the Victorian schoolroom that continues to be used by local school children giving them the experience of Victorian schooling for a day. Maralyn left us the dates of the open days for the summer and we have individually and in groups discovered the wonders of the Victorian School for ourselves.
