My Ancestors were Revolting was the title of our talk this month given by David Wood. An informative, at times amusing, and thoroughly engaging story of the involvement of some of his ancestors in the troubled times of the 1830’s in East Kent, with particular focus on the battle of Bossenden Wood in 1838 and the events leading up to it. The consequences of falling under the spell of the charismatic character known as Courtney, and the justice system of the times clearly had a devastating impact on their lives.
