In her talk Janet Few discussed sources for researching our marginalised ancestors. Those, who often through no fault of their own, fell on hard times. Due to their circumstances they rarely left Wills and we struggle to find much about them. However, they do have a fascinating tale that needs to be told. Janet described how through the records of the workhouse, hospitals, asylums and the overseers of the poor details of these ancestors can be uncovered and we can learn more about their lives.
Unfortunately a more detailed report is not available. However, on her website, Janet has an excellent Handout about Marginalised Ancestors which covers most aspects of her talk and more marginaised ancestors than she was able to fit into this interesting and informative talk..
