Our speaker, is a member of KFHS Deal Branch. Sharon gave an excellent and interesting talk about her Gt. Gt. Grandfather, an artist, whose diaries she found whilst researching her ancestors in the Essex Record Office.
Her Gt. Gt. Grandfather, George Albert Rose had written diaries from 1900 until 1956 when he died. There were also letters that included references to sketching, art exhibitions, and his wartime experiences and family life. Sharon read out some interesting pages from his diaries.
She also discovered that he had written articles in the East Anglian magazine and was able to buy some of those magazines. When she visited the British Museum she found they had many of his pictures and etchings there. She showed one of his paintings the original is in the Royal Academy which was very similar to a painting by John Constable.
