Before the talk Viv Carter gave a very brief report of the progress updating the memorial inscriptions of Nackington Churchyard. A project the branch had been asked to take on by the parish. Thanks go to the following members for their help taking photographs of inscriptions in May: Mike and Maggie Goodwin, Leanne Jones, Mick Bernier, Marion Steiner and Heather Bethell. These will eventually be collated and made available to members, hopefully online.
Anne Ashdown, the Society's Archivist, then gave a short presentation about the KFHS Archive collection, housed in a secure and temperature-controlled unit at Maidstone. She brought some of the contents to the meeting and we were able to spend some time looking through these.
The contents of the Kent FHS archive are many and varied and it is well worth looking in the Members area of the Society's website, under Resources, to see what is available. If you find something which may be of interest, Anne will email you scanned copies if under 10 pages long. Larger files can be borrowed for a month, but very large or heavy files will need to be visited in person.

Anne is also keen to add Kent related family trees to the resources. This resource is a huge asset to the Society and we need to know:
a) that it exists, and
b) that we know what is in it, so check it out via the members area of the website now!
