Branch AGM are very short meetings just to agree the branch accounts and to vote for the Committee for the coming year (2024-2025). You can nominate yourself or another member to serve on the committee. About the author and her talk
Emma Betten is a truly local author. Living in and writing about Romney Marsh means she can fully engage in the history of the area and connect with her readers. Local events or customs such as – the great storm which changed the coastline, the body of a monk being secretly carried across the marsh, magical qualities associated with hagstones – she uses these and others to create a whole novel. Fictional characters are put in recognisable settings as we follow the story of their lives. The eras range from the 7th to the 20th century, giving an opportunity to explore so much of our local history through writing. That local feel now extends to the books having distinctive covers with original artwork by artists from Greatstone, Lydd and New Romney.
