One of our members Mrs Pat Smith gave a most interesting presentation based on work done as part of studies for the Diploma in Genealogy. It was entitled “not all Slaters mend roofs” and detailed research starting with a hatchment and then unravelling the family relationships. For those of us lucky enough to have armigerous connections she gave many suggestions of possible sources. For those of us without a heraldic achievements [and most of us did not ] it was still fascinating to see the detective work involved.
