The
books are divided into categories. A list of relevant books in
each can be sent on request. If a member is interested in for
example, Cranbrook or a certain family name, all the books, manuscripts
and other papers available will be listed.
The
only books that cannot be lent to members are in the Reference
category. However should any of these be relevant to an enquiry,
the librarian will be pleased to look up any information required
Places.
There
are books covering most of the individual towns and villages in
Kent. There is also a collection of general books on the County
of Kent.
People.
These
are books written about the history of certain Kent families.
Military.
A
collection of general and individual lists pertaining to both
World Wars and Kent Regiments. Some information is on CD.
Occupations.
A
collection of books on individual occupations including smuggling
in Kent.
Beginners.
A
selection of books to help those beginning their family history
including searching on the internet.
Reference.
A
large section incorporating indexes on births and marriages of
certain places, parish records, directories and lists of people.
Please note that some of the personally written information has
been made available on the Society’s CD and Microfiche collection.
A microfiche reader is available for the use
of members.
Bygone
Kent and Kent Family History Society Journal collections.
A
complete collection of both are kept. Individual articles can
be provided on request.
Other
Society's Journals.
A
collection of overseas Journals and some one name study Magazines.
FAMILY
FILES.
This
is collection of family trees and family information donated to
the Society since 1974. Where permission has been granted by the
donor for the information to be released to members, copies of
the files can be sent on request. Some files are in the form of
CDs.
Unwanted
Certficates.
This
is a collection of donated certificates, which are in the process
of being catalogued.
