collections. To obtain a CARN ticket please bring with you
two passport sized photographs and two official means of identification
which between them confirm name, address and signature e.g.
a driving licence and a current utilities bill.

Holds
parish records for, broadly, parishes in the eastern part
of Kent, and bishops' transcripts for parishes in the diocese
of Canterbury. Also some census returns, Canterbury City archives
and the archives of the Dean and Chapter of Canterbury. There
are small collections of deeds. etc. and a collection of parish
transcripts and tithe maps. Park-and-ride buses serve the
centre of Canterbury.

Monday - Thursday 0900 - 1700
Friday Closed (other than for special classes and group tours)
Saturday Open on the 1st and 3rd of each month from 0900 -
1300
Sunday Closed The
Archives are also closed for:
Statuary Public Holidays, Easter Saturday, Cathedral Schools
Day (which is usually the 2nd Tuesday in November) and the
first fortnight of the New Year (when stocktaking takes
place).

The Kent History and Library Centre at James Whatman Way, Maidstone, will make more of our collections available under one roof, giving local people state of the art facilities and better access to Kent's rich culture and heritage. Whilst the builders are busy on site, our staff and a team of volunteers are working hard to prepare and repackage the collections for the move

records for parishes in the Rochester diocese, and charity,
legal and local government records for the Medway Towns. Also
has a comprehensive collection of naval records.
The Centre is close to Strood station and there is car
parking.
(Unfortunately, this parking is no longer free).

Wed. Closed for research (although there are often seminars
held on Wednesdays)
